On October 2, 2026 Karen Lightman attended the MIT Mobility Forum – AI Frontiers in Transportation Research. The session featured presentations from Lijun Sun, Associate Professor, McGill University, Sharon Xuan Di, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics, Columbia University, and Shenhao Wang, Assistant Professor, Director of the Urban AI Laboratory, University of Florida. The presenters shared their research focused on how they are using AI to address transportation challenges including transit, autonomous vehicles and intersection safety.
