Baltimore bridge collapse will have big impact in Pittsburgh and elsewhere

The port is a big export center for Pennsylvania-mined coal and the nation’s largest handler of new cars and light trucks…

Sean Qian, civil and environmental engineering, and Sridhar Tayur, operations management, were quoted in this story examining the impact of the collapse of the Francis Scott Key bridge. The disaster is expected to disrupt shipping around the Port of Baltimore, with Tayur noting, “Now the question is how do you get stuff to the port and out of the port” and Qian suggesting, “This is going to impose a lot of burdens on our supply chain systems.” The story ran in affiliated publications in Baltimore and Boston.
