University Transportation Center subawardee traveled to Germany and met with a number of groups working on EV safety training, including the regional Handwerkshammer in Süd-Thuringia, the vocational training center Wilhelm Maybach Schule, and internal training divisions at Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG and Porsche. They saw innovations in training devices for exposing students to safely working on high-voltage equipment that have not yet been released in the United States, including simulated battery and drive motor systems that have been safely stepped down to 12VDC – but still appear to be 800V for students.
